Choosing the Type of Fencing that is Right For You

August 15, 2019

types of fencing
With so many types of fencing, choosing the right one can be an overwhelming task. With fencing costs averaging $2,400 , you want to make sure you’re making the right investment. There are several things to consider when evaluating what type of fencing will best fit your needs. From privacy to longevity to aesthetics and budget, consider what’s most important to you when weighing your options.

Types of Fencing

Before you make any decisions, it may be helpful to review the different fencing types available to you. While there are so many kinds here are a few of the more popular and well known: wood, chain link, wrought iron, and vinyl. Each of these can have their own set of pros and cons.  For example, wood fences, while pleasing to the eye, can be quite costly, especially with a bigger yard or space.

What to Consider

Often times the main purpose of installing a fence is for added privacy and security. Some fence types will fulfill that purpose better than others. Aluminum can be quite eye pleasing and low maintenance, but your typical aluminum fence doesn’t give much security or privacy. A wood fence, depending on how you install it, can be ideal for privacy and is rather secure depending on its height. Then, there’s chain link, while not as private, it can be very secure as it’s used for security in most businesses. Perhaps the purpose of your fencing is more to increase the appeal of your home. The right fence can really make all the difference in tying your home together. When thinking of the types of fencing, try to envision what your style is and what would best match your home or your vision for you home. There’s no right or wrong answer when choosing for style, because it comes down to what you, visually like best. In some cases, budget may be the main concern. If that sounds like you, it’s best to research online for prices and then get an estimate from a trusted, local company

Ask an Expert

Maybe you’ve nailed it down or maybe you still aren’t sure what you want. Either way, it’s never a bad idea to ask an expert. Research local companies and reach out to them once you are ready for their input. They should be able to tell you if you’re on the right track or if you should head in a different direction. Other circumstances may play a part in your decision, things like longevity or sound proofness. A company with experience will be happy to give their input.

Final Decision: Types of Fencing

While ultimately it’s up to you what fencing to go with, having some guidelines and things to consider will help get you well on your way. Ask yourself what is most important to you when choosing from the different fence types and go from there. Whether you’re looking for that popular wood fence to spruce up the look of your yard or you just want a chain link to keep your dog in, there’s a perfect solution out there for everyone. Creating a welcoming, clean, and safe environment is central to maintaining healthcare and retirement homes in the Willamette Valley. These spaces are more than buildings; they’re where residents and patients find care and comfort. So, every detail in the physical environment, from the lighting to the layout, should reflect your commitment to their well-being. One key yet often overlooked detail? Interior painting. When done thoughtfully, it goes far beyond aesthetics—it shapes the atmosphere, reinforces safety, and contributes to a sense of care that’s felt by everyone who walks through the door. Understanding the Needs of Healthcare and Retirement Homes It goes without saying: healthcare and retirement facilities have unique painting needs that go beyond aesthetics. High-traffic areas experience regular wear and tear, and frequent cleaning can cause paint to degrade faster than in typical environments. Additionally, maintaining a sanitary and safe environment is paramount. This is why painting should not only be about beautification but also about durability and hygiene. Seasonal painting schedules allow healthcare and retirement homes to address their most critical areas—like hallways, communal spaces, and entryways—at the right time, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum effectiveness. Seasonal Painting Considerations It’s all about having a predictable maintenance plan, simplifying your to-do list and keeping your facility looking its best throughout the year. 1. Spring/Summer: Refreshing the Exterior and Common Areas Spring and summer are ideal seasons for tackling exterior painting projects. The mild weather conditions mean paint will dry faster, and there’s less risk of moisture interfering with the application. Also consider brightening up communal spaces, such as dining areas and lounges. This can lift spirits and provide a fresh, inviting atmosphere. Seasonal colors like pastels or light neutrals can help create a calm and pleasant environment for residents. Summer into early fall is an ideal time for exterior painting too. The lower chances of rain and consistent temps allow for larger projects to be completed faster and with less interference from the weather. 2. Fall/Winter: Focus on Interior Updates The cooler months are ideal for tackling interior projects. During fall and winter, healthcare and retirement homes often operate at a more predictable pace, making it a good time to schedule interior painting updates without significantly disrupting daily routines. Winter is a great time to refresh patient rooms, hallways, and bathrooms with more durable finishes that can withstand regular cleaning.
