What To Consider When Hiring Professional Painters in Keizer, OR

Fitzpatrick Painting & Construction • Jan 03, 2019

painters keizer orIt is estimated that by 2020, U.S paint sales will reach 1.4 billion dollars.

That is a lot of paint! And Keizer, OR is a growing community outside of Salem that will certainly be contributing to that total.

Giving a room, or your entire Keizer house, a fresh coat of paint is a great way to get a new look and revive any space.

If you are getting ready to take on an interior painting project, you may currently be focused on choosing the right colors, purchasing the paint, and on labor.

However, you need to consider how you are going to prepare the rooms for painting. Here are some tips.

1. Preparing the Walls

In any home renovation project whether small or large, preparation is key. Before doing any interior painting, make sure that your walls are properly prepared for a paint job.

If your walls are not prepared, you are looking at the possibility of paint peeling or even cracking. This can ruin the entire paint job.

Make sure you repair any defects on the surface of your walls beforehand. Clean the walls as much as possible.

Get a bucket and pour in some mild detergent then use a sponge to start cleaning the walls. Keep in mind that you are just trying to remove surface stains and dirt, so there is no need to over scrub.

The walls that are often the dirtiest are those in the kitchen and areas near entry and exit doors, so make sure you get to these spots.

2. Move Your Furniture

Your painters will cover your furniture with plastic covers. However, this doesn’t mean, that you should not move them out of the way if possible.

If you can’t move the furniture out of the room then move them to the center of the room. You should also remove pictures from the walls and place them in a place where they will not have a chance to be exposed to paint.

Remove switch covers when possible. This step is especially important if you have fancy covers. It can be a challenge to remove paint from these covers once any paint has touched them.

3. Set up Special Areas When Interior Painting

In order to keep things organized, it is best to set up an area where your painters can leave their paint and equipment. The last thing you want is for the paints being used , ladders, paint brushes, and other painting supplies to be in awkward areas. Designate a particular spot in your home where painters can set up a station.

If you have pets you need to ensure that you set up an area for them to stay while painting is going on. While you don’t want to confine your pet too much, you are going to have to ensure that they don’t walk in any area being painted.

Pets have a tendency to rub against walls and even doors, messing up paint jobs and themselves. This will cause you to waste paint because some areas will have to be repainted and this can throw off your budget.

Final Thoughts on Painting Your Keizer Home or Property

If you are about to get interior painting done (or exterior), you need to make sure that you have taken the right steps to get the job done properly.

You can do this by preparing your space for painting and making sure you protect your belongings. Remember to set up special areas for your painters and even your pets as well.
