Happy New Year + Resolution Ideas!

December 31, 2019

It’s been another wonderful year of building things, tearing other things down, and making still other things look so new, you’d think we’d torn them down and rebuilt them.

The big takeaway from this year is that we could remodel, paint, seal, and repipe every building in Oregon if all their owners asked. We’ve been proud of our work all along–hence that little chestnut we like to call our 12-year warranty–but the feeling swells all the more when you see it persist amid the kind of growth we’ve achieved this year.

Highlights from a Fantastic Year

We hope this blog has been as helpful as it’s been fun and interesting to write. Sometimes it’s about how to DIY easy home improvements, sometimes it’s about why hiring professional contractors like us is the way to go. Other times, we like to just get the inspiration stirring and talk about what’s possible. Here’s a quick look back at our three favorite topics from this year.

#3 – Your bathroom doesn’t have to feel like an industrial echo chamber. Try incorporating a little earthiness in the decor, some spaciousness in the layout, and color everywhere possible!

#2 – Painting a room yourself can end up being more trouble than the saved money is worth. On the other hand, when a professional does it for you, it’s pretty much like the paint fairy came. The wall looks new, the floor is clean, and not a scrap of evidence gets left behind.

#1 – If you like friends, time, or eating things, then you’re probably loving the double oven cabinet you must have installed this year. If you are, it’s likely that chief among your reasons is that double oven cabinets are perfect for housing double ovens. Keep calm and cook on, renovators! Enjoy that casserole and how separate it is from the cookies!

New Year’s Resolution Ideas

Thanksgiving. Christmas. New Year’s. Regular dinner. Snack time. All of these are invariably reminders of how much or little you like your kitchen. If the time is finally right, give us a call and talk about it with us. We’ll talk free estimates, timelines, how to adapt to construction in your house, and–most importantly–what you want.

Once the new year starts, you have about three months to beat the rush of all the other homeowners who want to paint their houses. Set up your inspection early and start smiling when you see your house from the driveway again!

Do right by your workshop or garage. Coat the floors with something that will preserve them through all the abuse they take. It’s important enough to be careful not to hurt yourself–stop worrying about the floor too!

If a kitchen remodel, new paint job, floor preservation, or anything else about your home is on your new year’s resolution list, you’re probably thinking it’s going to be a hassle. Let us show you how easy all of it can be!

Creating a welcoming, clean, and safe environment is central to maintaining healthcare and retirement homes in the Willamette Valley. These spaces are more than buildings; they’re where residents and patients find care and comfort. So, every detail in the physical environment, from the lighting to the layout, should reflect your commitment to their well-being. One key yet often overlooked detail? Interior painting. When done thoughtfully, it goes far beyond aesthetics—it shapes the atmosphere, reinforces safety, and contributes to a sense of care that’s felt by everyone who walks through the door. Understanding the Needs of Healthcare and Retirement Homes It goes without saying: healthcare and retirement facilities have unique painting needs that go beyond aesthetics. High-traffic areas experience regular wear and tear, and frequent cleaning can cause paint to degrade faster than in typical environments. Additionally, maintaining a sanitary and safe environment is paramount. This is why painting should not only be about beautification but also about durability and hygiene. Seasonal painting schedules allow healthcare and retirement homes to address their most critical areas—like hallways, communal spaces, and entryways—at the right time, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum effectiveness. Seasonal Painting Considerations It’s all about having a predictable maintenance plan, simplifying your to-do list and keeping your facility looking its best throughout the year. 1. Spring/Summer: Refreshing the Exterior and Common Areas Spring and summer are ideal seasons for tackling exterior painting projects. The mild weather conditions mean paint will dry faster, and there’s less risk of moisture interfering with the application. Also consider brightening up communal spaces, such as dining areas and lounges. This can lift spirits and provide a fresh, inviting atmosphere. Seasonal colors like pastels or light neutrals can help create a calm and pleasant environment for residents. Summer into early fall is an ideal time for exterior painting too. The lower chances of rain and consistent temps allow for larger projects to be completed faster and with less interference from the weather. 2. Fall/Winter: Focus on Interior Updates The cooler months are ideal for tackling interior projects. During fall and winter, healthcare and retirement homes often operate at a more predictable pace, making it a good time to schedule interior painting updates without significantly disrupting daily routines. Winter is a great time to refresh patient rooms, hallways, and bathrooms with more durable finishes that can withstand regular cleaning.
