2019 Color Forecast: 3 Fresh Trends to Keep Your Eye on for Next Year

December 7, 2018

In recent years we’ve had  millennial pink , forest green and even black touted as the hot new colors for house paint trends.

After all, paint color can make or break your home’s feel. It’s important to get it right when it comes to decorating your biggest investment. That said, life’s too short to play it safe with plain white walls.

With that in mind, here’s your very own 2019 color forecast, with the three hottest house paint trends to look out for next year!

Cornflower Blue

First up on the list of popular 2019 paint colors is cornflower blue. Named after the Eurasian cornflower plant, this shade of blue has a slight hint of lilac, giving it a warmer edge than most shades of blue.

As well as being a great  Feng Shui color  choice for your office space, blue is a color that people often gravitate towards. Cornflower blue, in particular, is striking enough to demand attention without being overwhelming, especially if you opt for a more muted shade. We’d also recommend sticking to a matte or eggshell sheen to make the color feel more subdued.

This color works well in the hallway, kitchen, or in bathrooms. It’s also great as an accent wall in the bedroom. In terms of furniture and accessories, cornflower blue looks great against a mix of light and dark wooden furniture, tortoiseshell detailing, and brass accents.

Dove Grey

Although dove grey is one of 2019’s top paint color trends, this sophisticated shade has true staying-power and will also look great in years to come. As such, it’s a great choice for  updating your interiors.

Grey is a soothing color, while the warm undertones of dove grey create a softer, dreamier feel. Dove grey is the perfect muted tone for your bedroom walls, or it will add a luxurious look to a kitchen.

This color also looks great in spacious living rooms, especially against bare wooden floors decorated with souk-style layered rugs.

Terracotta

If the other 2019 colors are too cool for your liking, you’ll be pleased to hear that terracotta is another of next year’s top paint color trends.

Luxurious, warm, and decadent, this shade offers a perfect backdrop for your home, evoking the feel of a desert oasis or a sun-kissed Mediterranean patio. In fact, terracotta will really help bring the outdoors in when it comes to your house interior color schemes.

Terracotta is perfect for a welcoming hallway or a relaxing living room. Stick to matte or flat paint to hide surface imperfections. Add in plenty of greenery, worn leather, and heavy wooden furniture to complete the look.

Your 2019 Color Forecast

When it comes to wall color, this 2019 color forecast offers a range of different shades that are sure to suit many tastes and preferences.

Whether you’d prefer the warmth of terracotta or a soft dove grey, if your walls could do with an upgrade, let these 2019 paint colors be your inspiration.

Creating a welcoming, clean, and safe environment is central to maintaining healthcare and retirement homes in the Willamette Valley. These spaces are more than buildings; they’re where residents and patients find care and comfort. So, every detail in the physical environment, from the lighting to the layout, should reflect your commitment to their well-being. One key yet often overlooked detail? Interior painting. When done thoughtfully, it goes far beyond aesthetics—it shapes the atmosphere, reinforces safety, and contributes to a sense of care that’s felt by everyone who walks through the door. Understanding the Needs of Healthcare and Retirement Homes It goes without saying: healthcare and retirement facilities have unique painting needs that go beyond aesthetics. High-traffic areas experience regular wear and tear, and frequent cleaning can cause paint to degrade faster than in typical environments. Additionally, maintaining a sanitary and safe environment is paramount. This is why painting should not only be about beautification but also about durability and hygiene. Seasonal painting schedules allow healthcare and retirement homes to address their most critical areas—like hallways, communal spaces, and entryways—at the right time, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum effectiveness. Seasonal Painting Considerations It’s all about having a predictable maintenance plan, simplifying your to-do list and keeping your facility looking its best throughout the year. 1. Spring/Summer: Refreshing the Exterior and Common Areas Spring and summer are ideal seasons for tackling exterior painting projects. The mild weather conditions mean paint will dry faster, and there’s less risk of moisture interfering with the application. Also consider brightening up communal spaces, such as dining areas and lounges. This can lift spirits and provide a fresh, inviting atmosphere. Seasonal colors like pastels or light neutrals can help create a calm and pleasant environment for residents. Summer into early fall is an ideal time for exterior painting too. The lower chances of rain and consistent temps allow for larger projects to be completed faster and with less interference from the weather. 2. Fall/Winter: Focus on Interior Updates The cooler months are ideal for tackling interior projects. During fall and winter, healthcare and retirement homes often operate at a more predictable pace, making it a good time to schedule interior painting updates without significantly disrupting daily routines. Winter is a great time to refresh patient rooms, hallways, and bathrooms with more durable finishes that can withstand regular cleaning.
