Beach House Exterior Ideas for Oregon Coast Lovers!

April 16, 2020

beach house exteriorOf course, the best way to make a beach house exterior is to wrap it around a beach house interior . Sadly, not all of us have our interiors on beaches so, if we dig that aesthetic, we have to create it where we are.

Any professional construction company will have its own ideas, but below, we’ll get into some basic ideas to evoke that distinctly beach house exterior no matter how close it is to a shoreline, especially with respect to coastal paint colors. After that, we’ll drool for a moment over some amazing modern beach houses.

Popular Beach House Exterior Ideas

1. White, with Accents

The various shades of white are still the most popular colors for houses everywhere, but especially on beaches. It’s just eternally bright and cheerful. But one way to make a white house feel like it has a beach house exterior is to accent the white you use with bold colors, like sky blue. Try it on the coverings over your…

2. Wraparound Porch

The great thing about a beach house is that it’s on the beach. You get to just look up at any time and see the ocean. Thus, wraparound porches are a wonderful addition to any beach house exterior. Even if you don’t have a beach to look at, the aesthetic is wonderfully calming and warm and will make you feel like making your porch a more frequently used living area.

3. Shade

Create shady spots around the exterior of the house with woven or bamboo shutters and blinds. They’re inherently more interesting than their “normal” counterparts and because they can be seen from the outside, they lend a perfect touch of thoroughness to your beach house exterior theme.

Our Favorite Coastal Paint Colors

Coastal paint colors tend to be pale because beach air has a lot of sand and salt in it, both of which cause paint to fade faster. This utilitarian choice created an aesthetic that’s instantly recognizable on any beach house exterior. If you don’t go with white, try a pale blue, yellow, or even pink, which is also called coral.

Modern Beach House Exterior

Creative use of wood and windows can make an incredible modern beach house exterior. Other than that, a modern beach house often looks just like a modern house from anywhere. But again, like above, the materials should look like they came from nature–wood, bamboo, etc. And the windows should be huge. Floor-to-ceiling windows are a wonderful trend right now, especially for beach houses.

Summary of Beach House Exterior Options

Paint that house white or a pale color and be liberal when you explore accent colors, especially if you go with white. Invest in a wraparound porch if you can; they’re luxurious whether you live in a beach house or not and they certainly help your home’s resale value. Finally, insist on those huge windows to see your beach with and go for woody and/or woven materials for blinds and shutters.

Creating a welcoming, clean, and safe environment is central to maintaining healthcare and retirement homes in the Willamette Valley. These spaces are more than buildings; they’re where residents and patients find care and comfort. So, every detail in the physical environment, from the lighting to the layout, should reflect your commitment to their well-being. One key yet often overlooked detail? Interior painting. When done thoughtfully, it goes far beyond aesthetics—it shapes the atmosphere, reinforces safety, and contributes to a sense of care that’s felt by everyone who walks through the door. Understanding the Needs of Healthcare and Retirement Homes It goes without saying: healthcare and retirement facilities have unique painting needs that go beyond aesthetics. High-traffic areas experience regular wear and tear, and frequent cleaning can cause paint to degrade faster than in typical environments. Additionally, maintaining a sanitary and safe environment is paramount. This is why painting should not only be about beautification but also about durability and hygiene. Seasonal painting schedules allow healthcare and retirement homes to address their most critical areas—like hallways, communal spaces, and entryways—at the right time, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum effectiveness. Seasonal Painting Considerations It’s all about having a predictable maintenance plan, simplifying your to-do list and keeping your facility looking its best throughout the year. 1. Spring/Summer: Refreshing the Exterior and Common Areas Spring and summer are ideal seasons for tackling exterior painting projects. The mild weather conditions mean paint will dry faster, and there’s less risk of moisture interfering with the application. Also consider brightening up communal spaces, such as dining areas and lounges. This can lift spirits and provide a fresh, inviting atmosphere. Seasonal colors like pastels or light neutrals can help create a calm and pleasant environment for residents. Summer into early fall is an ideal time for exterior painting too. The lower chances of rain and consistent temps allow for larger projects to be completed faster and with less interference from the weather. 2. Fall/Winter: Focus on Interior Updates The cooler months are ideal for tackling interior projects. During fall and winter, healthcare and retirement homes often operate at a more predictable pace, making it a good time to schedule interior painting updates without significantly disrupting daily routines. Winter is a great time to refresh patient rooms, hallways, and bathrooms with more durable finishes that can withstand regular cleaning.
