Best Modern Home Decor Ideas for Each Season

February 2, 2018

modern home decorModern home decor is constantly changing, so how can you keep your home looking classy without paying high-end prices? Create a home theme that can change with the seasons.

While a bright colorful room might look great when it’s summer, that same color scheme will clash with richer winter colors. Avoid this problem by creating a space that works for all seasons. Then add small seasonal elements to match the changing mood.

We’ll walk you through it!

Autumn

Autumn is a time of changing colors. Take a hint from nature and add in the stunning colors that appear during this time. Rich browns, reds, oranges, and yellows are all beautiful elements to incorporate into your room.

If you have simple cream-colored walls feel free to add strong accent pieces in the room. A dark brown rug and red pillowcases would complement the room nicely.

However, if your walls are a darker color, don’t add in as much brown. Instead, focus only on lighter accent colors. For example, you could add a happy yellow vase or light orange throw pillows.

These changes will help the room feel like autumn without breaking the budget.

Winter

During winter the light that comes into the house is stunning. The sun sets at a lower angle and creates beautiful colors. Unfortunately, the light doesn’t last long.

On the shortest day of the year, the light only lasts about nine and a half hours. That means that most of the time it will feel dark.

Because of this, you’ll want to avoid adding dark elements to your rooms. Instead, brighten the area up with light winter colors. These include soft blues, white, and light greens.

Many of these colors are trending for 2018. Check out the hottest interior decorating colors for this year.

Keep your room even cozier by adding a warm fireplace. Learn more about this iconic feature.

Spring

Spring represents new life, and after being cooped up in all winter it’s a good idea to bring life to your modern home decor as well.

During this time, the light that comes into your house will be increasing every day. Complement the light with bright colors, such as teal, turquoise, lime green, and more.

Indoor plants, bright throws, and mirrors will all add this light and energy to the room.

Summer

Finally, we have summer. Summer colors include rich blues, greens, and soft pinks or purple. During this season there is still plenty of light coming in, so that means you don’t have to worry about your rooms appearing too dark.

However, with every dark color, you add be sure to balance it with a softer hue. Navy blue works great with soft pinks or greys. They also help the room to feel cooler, which is a major benefit when the average temperature in the United States hits 72 degrees Fahrenheit.

Creating a welcoming, clean, and safe environment is central to maintaining healthcare and retirement homes in the Willamette Valley. These spaces are more than buildings; they’re where residents and patients find care and comfort. So, every detail in the physical environment, from the lighting to the layout, should reflect your commitment to their well-being. One key yet often overlooked detail? Interior painting. When done thoughtfully, it goes far beyond aesthetics—it shapes the atmosphere, reinforces safety, and contributes to a sense of care that’s felt by everyone who walks through the door. Understanding the Needs of Healthcare and Retirement Homes It goes without saying: healthcare and retirement facilities have unique painting needs that go beyond aesthetics. High-traffic areas experience regular wear and tear, and frequent cleaning can cause paint to degrade faster than in typical environments. Additionally, maintaining a sanitary and safe environment is paramount. This is why painting should not only be about beautification but also about durability and hygiene. Seasonal painting schedules allow healthcare and retirement homes to address their most critical areas—like hallways, communal spaces, and entryways—at the right time, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum effectiveness. Seasonal Painting Considerations It’s all about having a predictable maintenance plan, simplifying your to-do list and keeping your facility looking its best throughout the year. 1. Spring/Summer: Refreshing the Exterior and Common Areas Spring and summer are ideal seasons for tackling exterior painting projects. The mild weather conditions mean paint will dry faster, and there’s less risk of moisture interfering with the application. Also consider brightening up communal spaces, such as dining areas and lounges. This can lift spirits and provide a fresh, inviting atmosphere. Seasonal colors like pastels or light neutrals can help create a calm and pleasant environment for residents. Summer into early fall is an ideal time for exterior painting too. The lower chances of rain and consistent temps allow for larger projects to be completed faster and with less interference from the weather. 2. Fall/Winter: Focus on Interior Updates The cooler months are ideal for tackling interior projects. During fall and winter, healthcare and retirement homes often operate at a more predictable pace, making it a good time to schedule interior painting updates without significantly disrupting daily routines. Winter is a great time to refresh patient rooms, hallways, and bathrooms with more durable finishes that can withstand regular cleaning.
