5 Trendy Nursery Themes You’ll Love

September 30, 2017

Pastel or neutral colors?

Polka dots or stripes?

Farm animals or safari wildlife?

These are just some of several things that parents think about for their baby’s nursery. But one thing is certain: Baby is on the way!

A nursery is a baby’s primary environment. It’s where baby will sleep, grow, and bond with mom and dad in its first years of life.

Naturally, choosing a theme for the nursery is a fundamental step in a parent’s journey. But a new coat of paint is not enough !

There’s a new wave of nursery themes that are creating nurturing and adorable environments for babies and parents alike. And we’re here to tell you about them and help you get inspired!

Here are 5 of the trendiest themes you and baby will love…

1. Rustic Forest

Want to expose your new baby to the great outdoors early on?

There’s nothing cozier than feeling like you’re holding your baby in a log cabin. And with this theme, you’ll feel just that!

The rustic forest theme incorporates a mix of neutral and deep colors. We’re talking an array of beige, evergreen, and maroon.

The rustic forest nursery also incorporates plaid linens and wood furniture. Some nurseries even have stencils of bears, deer, and rabbits on the walls.

This theme is perfect if you love the Oregon outdoors and plan to take your baby on hikes and camping trips!

2. Under the Milky Way

The solar system mobile is a classic choice for nursery decor. But parents can take the outer space feel to a whole new level.

The base of an outer space nursery is usually a palette of gray. You can also incorporate other bright colors, like yellow, orange, blue, and purple.

Space nursery decor doesn’t end with the solar system mobile, either. You should work in linens and area rugs with stars on them, as well as contemporary light fixtures.

3. Floral Garden

Expecting a little girl and can’t wait to doll her up with everything girly?

Of all feminine-inspired nursery themes, none are as trendy as the floral garden!

Pink and purple typically come to mind when people think of girly nurseries. But these days, parents are working in a blend of coral, turquoise, and dandelion yellow.

After all, gardens include all colors bright and uplifting as the next.

If you want to tone down the pastels, incorporate softer greens. You can also pair the green with a lavender highlight or plum undertone for a feminine touch.

And of course, no garden nursery is complete without some illustrations. Flowers, butterflies, and all!

4. Out to Sea

Nautical nursery themes are a classic choice for baby boys. But they’re also perfect for families who spend a lot of time on the water.

Naturally, a nautical nursery is navy or gray. But you can also bring more life to the walls by painting one or two of them with an ocean blue or a blue-gray blend.

You can also accentuate the room with gold colored paint details. Or you can pick out linens, furniture, and decor items that have gold or mustard yellow in them.

Complete your little sailor’s room with a boat mobile over the crib or an anchor-shaped pillow on the rocker. Not to mention some fish illustrations floating around somewhere on the walls!

5. Baby’s First Journey

This is by far the most simple of our nursery themes. But it may be the most sentimental.

The reason being that your baby will grow into his or her own person. And this nursery celebrates this.

A first journey nursery is neutral to its core. So, beige and off-white are the typical choices in color.

The central decor piece of this nursery is a big world map on one of the walls of the room. There should be nothing else on this wall, as the map should stand out on its own.

Some parents hang framed photos of family members. Some even frame a handwritten letter to the baby that he or she will read at a later age.

Neutral colors enhance these decor pieces. As the child grows, you can hang up new photos and the child’s artwork.

Creating a welcoming, clean, and safe environment is central to maintaining healthcare and retirement homes in the Willamette Valley. These spaces are more than buildings; they’re where residents and patients find care and comfort. So, every detail in the physical environment, from the lighting to the layout, should reflect your commitment to their well-being. One key yet often overlooked detail? Interior painting. When done thoughtfully, it goes far beyond aesthetics—it shapes the atmosphere, reinforces safety, and contributes to a sense of care that’s felt by everyone who walks through the door. Understanding the Needs of Healthcare and Retirement Homes It goes without saying: healthcare and retirement facilities have unique painting needs that go beyond aesthetics. High-traffic areas experience regular wear and tear, and frequent cleaning can cause paint to degrade faster than in typical environments. Additionally, maintaining a sanitary and safe environment is paramount. This is why painting should not only be about beautification but also about durability and hygiene. Seasonal painting schedules allow healthcare and retirement homes to address their most critical areas—like hallways, communal spaces, and entryways—at the right time, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum effectiveness. Seasonal Painting Considerations It’s all about having a predictable maintenance plan, simplifying your to-do list and keeping your facility looking its best throughout the year. 1. Spring/Summer: Refreshing the Exterior and Common Areas Spring and summer are ideal seasons for tackling exterior painting projects. The mild weather conditions mean paint will dry faster, and there’s less risk of moisture interfering with the application. Also consider brightening up communal spaces, such as dining areas and lounges. This can lift spirits and provide a fresh, inviting atmosphere. Seasonal colors like pastels or light neutrals can help create a calm and pleasant environment for residents. Summer into early fall is an ideal time for exterior painting too. The lower chances of rain and consistent temps allow for larger projects to be completed faster and with less interference from the weather. 2. Fall/Winter: Focus on Interior Updates The cooler months are ideal for tackling interior projects. During fall and winter, healthcare and retirement homes often operate at a more predictable pace, making it a good time to schedule interior painting updates without significantly disrupting daily routines. Winter is a great time to refresh patient rooms, hallways, and bathrooms with more durable finishes that can withstand regular cleaning.
