10 Backyard Oasis Ideas You Will Love

June 15, 2018

Everyone needs to get away now and then.

But if driving to the woods or jetting off to a tropical island isn’t in your plans, you might want to consider an oasis right in your backyard. And, if you already have a deck or patio, it’s easier than you think.

We have some simple backyard oasis ideas to help you get started. Let’s take a look.

And get ready to sit back and relax!

1. Add Greenery

Arch a trellis over your deck and cover it with luxurious vines. Add a multitude of container plants to bring your surrounding greenery up onto the deck. Then set up a comfy chair or swing and settle in.

2. Enclose Your Space

If you have an open patio, close it up with a simple fence or garden walls to create some privacy. You can then add a pergola for protection from the sun during the day, and insects at night.

3. Furnish with Comfort and Style

Your backyard oasis can be just as comfortable as almost anything you have inside your home. New synthetic, weatherproof fabrics and patio furniture have made this a reality.

4. Light it Up!

To enjoy your backyard oasis after the sun sets, get some weatherproof table lamps or floor lamps. And maybe string up some small bulb lights to provide warm ambient lighting.

5. Add a Gazebo

If your porch or deck don’t quite do the job, a gazebo might be what you need. It’s an outdoor room in its own right. Plus, you can screen it off to add extra protection from the elements.

6. Create an Outdoor Kitchen

You can transform a porch, or even buy a shed for this one. All it needs is a simple countertop for food prep, some closed storage, and maybe even a small refrigerator. Then place the grill nearby and start cooking!

7. Get Made in the Shade

Sometimes all you need to have that sense of retreat is a shady spot on your deck or patio. While putting in a mature tree is costly, you could add umbrellas, a pergola or even retractable awnings.

8. Redesign Your Patio

If your patio is looking a little dull, give it a redesign. Incorporate brick, stone or tile and have it painted a new color. You can also incorporate planting beds, container gardens, and outdoor furniture to create a true retreat.

9. Install a Hot Tub

Okay, this one is kind of a big deal. But sitting in a hot tub is like an instant getaway.

A typical round hot tub is going to take up about 30 square feet, while a rectangular one will need 48 square feet. And keep in mind that when full of water, it could weigh up to 2 tons so it will need its own foundation.

10. Add Fire and Water

Fountains, fireplaces, and fire pits will further enhance your backyard oasis.

The sound of trickling water in a fountain can be very soothing. And fire pits and fireplaces go a long way toward drawing people together.

Get Out There and Relax!

We hope these backyard oasis ideas give you some inspiration to create your own little getaway.

Creating a welcoming, clean, and safe environment is central to maintaining healthcare and retirement homes in the Willamette Valley. These spaces are more than buildings; they’re where residents and patients find care and comfort. So, every detail in the physical environment, from the lighting to the layout, should reflect your commitment to their well-being. One key yet often overlooked detail? Interior painting. When done thoughtfully, it goes far beyond aesthetics—it shapes the atmosphere, reinforces safety, and contributes to a sense of care that’s felt by everyone who walks through the door. Understanding the Needs of Healthcare and Retirement Homes It goes without saying: healthcare and retirement facilities have unique painting needs that go beyond aesthetics. High-traffic areas experience regular wear and tear, and frequent cleaning can cause paint to degrade faster than in typical environments. Additionally, maintaining a sanitary and safe environment is paramount. This is why painting should not only be about beautification but also about durability and hygiene. Seasonal painting schedules allow healthcare and retirement homes to address their most critical areas—like hallways, communal spaces, and entryways—at the right time, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum effectiveness. Seasonal Painting Considerations It’s all about having a predictable maintenance plan, simplifying your to-do list and keeping your facility looking its best throughout the year. 1. Spring/Summer: Refreshing the Exterior and Common Areas Spring and summer are ideal seasons for tackling exterior painting projects. The mild weather conditions mean paint will dry faster, and there’s less risk of moisture interfering with the application. Also consider brightening up communal spaces, such as dining areas and lounges. This can lift spirits and provide a fresh, inviting atmosphere. Seasonal colors like pastels or light neutrals can help create a calm and pleasant environment for residents. Summer into early fall is an ideal time for exterior painting too. The lower chances of rain and consistent temps allow for larger projects to be completed faster and with less interference from the weather. 2. Fall/Winter: Focus on Interior Updates The cooler months are ideal for tackling interior projects. During fall and winter, healthcare and retirement homes often operate at a more predictable pace, making it a good time to schedule interior painting updates without significantly disrupting daily routines. Winter is a great time to refresh patient rooms, hallways, and bathrooms with more durable finishes that can withstand regular cleaning.
