Beat the Winter Blues with These 5 Gorgeous Winter Decor Ideas

Fitzpatrick Painting & Construction • Nov 29, 2018

Winter and the holiday season are getting closer each day, so it’s probably time for you to start thinking about what your winter decor is going to look like.

Bored with only decorating in white and hanging snowflakes everywhere? Your winter decorations  don’t have to be the same every year. Instead, get inspired by our five gorgeous winter home decor ideas for those cold winter nights.

1. Add Pops of Color

Who said white is the only winter color?

Spice up your home with pops of bright color. It might be gray and cold outside, but that doesn’t mean that your living room needs to match.

If you want to ring in the Christmas spirit, you can go for red and green. If that’s not your thing, though, try adding blue or purple accents. Throw pillows and table runners are great ways to add an easy touch of color.

2. Get Creative With Your Mantel

If your mantelpiece is the focal point of your living room, this is a great opportunity to get creative with your decorations.

Bringing in greenery is a simple way to add interest to your mantelpiece and get in the seasonal spirit. Don’t just leave it at that, though — feel free to add extra decorations like candles or ornaments.

A gold and white color scheme here looks warm and cozy above the fireplace.

3. Light It Up

One of the drawbacks of winter is how dark it gets so early. A lot of people associate winter with doom and gloom – and studies show we can actually be more depressed during the winter.

Beat the blues by finding as many ways to let in natural light as possible. Light is a key part of any decorative plan!

One hack is to place a mirror across from a window. It’ll help to reflect light into the room and brighten up your space.

4. Play With Patterns

Chances are, whenever you see something with a tartan pattern, you think of Christmas – even if the pattern isn’t in red and green.

Don’t be afraid to play with patterns as you make your home a winter wonderland. Adding a little bit of tartan here and there will automatically make people think of winter when they come to your house.

Less is more when it comes to tartan, so you’ll only need to get a few things.

5. Stay Warm & Cozy

It’s sweater weather! Who doesn’t want to be able to come home and slide under a warm blanket, or press their toes into a soft rug?

Make your home into a cozy space by bringing out the blankets and rugs to fill up your living room. You’ll feel relaxed as soon as you step into the space. Who wants to go outside when you can have the perfect night in?

Decorate with Gorgeous Winter Decor

These winter decor ideas will help your house feel as festive as possible this winter. While the snow falls outside, you’ll be able to enjoy a winter wonderland of your own making.
